In 1945, the Special Services Division of the U.S. Army held the National Army Arts Contest. Harold Rankin submitted two winning photographs: "Tuck Edgerton - Flying Low" and "Chowhound." The army treated Harold and Bernadine to a free trip to Washington D.C. to see his works displayed in the National Gallery of Art. Not bad for a lowly Pfc.

Shown is the label affixed to the back of "Tuck Edgerton - Flying Low."
